The Tour Program
THE TOUR
We begin our Zagori e-bike tour in the historic square of Asprangeli, recognized as a “Martyr Village” due to its tragic WWII history. Leaving the village, we pedal smoothly toward Elati. Within just ten minutes, the landscape opens up spectacularly, revealing the massive ridgelines of Mount Tymfi and the distant, dramatic opening of the famous Vikos Gorge. Contrasting the rocky peaks with the dense, green forests of Eastern Zagori, this stretch offers some of the absolute best photo opportunities in all of Epirus.
Passing through the fragrant fir trees of Elati, we continue on a wonderfully quiet, highly scenic road. Riding on smooth asphalt with fresh mountain air, the electric assist makes the journey feel completely effortless. Soon, the architectural gem of Dikorfo emerges. Arriving at the village square, time seems to have stopped in the 19th century. We park our bikes to admire the impressive stone mansions (Archontika), the old stone school, and the intricate bell tower of Agios Minas in absolute, magical silence. A short, easy 15-minute climb brings us to the solitary hilltop chapel of Agios Ioannis. Here, surrounded by a stunning 360-degree view of the Zagori vastness, we set up our signature Bikewise Picnic to taste authentic handmade pies and local treats. Filled with striking alpine images and traditional flavors, we enjoy a breezy, highly rewarding return ride back to Asprangeli, completing our beautiful half-day excursion.
