Trip Itinerary
Day 1
Welcome to Epirus and the Ascent to Pades
Welcome to your Northern Greece slow travel holiday! We meet in the welcoming mountain town of Konitsa, beautifully built across the green slopes of Mount Trapezitsa. After checking into our comfortable partner hotel, our small group gathers for a relaxed briefing. We will take the time to personally fit your premium e-bike, carefully adjusting the saddle and handlebars to ensure your absolute comfort for the journey ahead.
Once everyone is set up, we kick off our adventure with a scenic, invigorating ascent. Riding smoothly along the lush mountain slopes, we pass through the quiet, picturesque villages of Elefthero and Palaioselli. Our destination for today’s ride is the beautiful alpine village of Pades. Here, a spectacular highlight awaits: we will settle down for a signature outdoor picnic featuring delicious local products. As we feast, we will be treated to incredible, sweeping views of the wild, jagged peaks of Mount Tymfi.
After soaking in the majestic scenery and taking plenty of photos, we enjoy a rewarding and pleasant ride back down to Konitsa. Once we return to the hotel, you will have plenty of time to rest, freshen up, and recharge. As evening falls, we head into town for a heartwarming welcome dinner at a traditional local tavern. Day 2
The Art of Stone (Molista, Ganadio & Pyrsogianni)
After a hearty breakfast, we hop on our e-bikes and head north toward the beautiful Sarantaporo Valley. The scenic morning route offers breathtaking, effortless views as we ride between the towering peaks of Mount Smolikas and Mount Grammos. Leaving the main road, we use our electric assist to smoothly and easily climb toward the traditional Epirus hidden gems of Molista and Ganadio.
Ganadio is widely considered a living, open-air museum, completely untouched by mass tourism. We will take a relaxing walk through its quiet, cobbled streets to admire the imposing stone mansions, grand historical schools, and intricate churches. Continuing our gentle ride, we reach Pyrsogianni, historically famous as the proud headquarters of the master stonebuilders. Here, we visit the fascinating Museum of Epirus Stone Masons to learn about the traveling craftsmen who built Greece’s iconic bridges, their unique building techniques, and their secret coded language, “Koudaritika” (please note that as a remote, locally-run site, the museum may occasionally be closed).
Midday calls for a highly authentic, traditional lunch served right in the village square, resting comfortably under the thick shade of ancient plane trees. For our return journey to Konitsa, we enjoy long, breezy, and highly rewarding downhill sections, taking in the warm afternoon light reflecting off the river. We wrap up this culturally rich day by relaxing back at our hotel, before gathering for another delicious dinner at a local Epirus tavern.
